I am realizing that maybe over the summer I should just take a formal break from blogging since this is the second summer in a row I have disappeared. This summer has been exceptionally busy and the farther I got behind the harder it has been to get back to it!
We truly have had a great summer despite being so busy and are thankful for so many things. I have been enjoying not being in school and having time to read again! Since January I have read 25 books, more than I think I have read in years! I have really enjoyed the time to relax and enjoy this time. Having Phil gone more than normal has also added in my book reading addiction.
Since this blog could quickly become pages and pages of rambling, I thought I would do a picture tour of the summer and possibly some blogs in the future!!
Camping with our Friends... Don't we look tough?
The start of the "Trim Project" We took down all the trim in our entire house and sanded and then painted white!
4th of July in Stillwater with our amazing friends!
The big project this summer, re-finishing all our hardwood floors! This is the before picture.
Phil getting ready to start sanding....
The floors all sanded and ready for stain and poly.
Me starting to stain the floors. I was freaking out a little bit hoping that we picked the right color. In the end we think it is perfect.
The "almost" finished product... I realized I still have not taken final pictures...
After many great years of service, Phil and I sold our high school car and purchased a new (aka car that starts every time) car! We had so many memories in that car but it was past time!
Oliver learned a new trick, and we learned that he is smarter than we think. He can not speak, the problem is, he thinks he can speak whenever he wants something now... oh no, we gave the dog a voice... literally :)
Oh, speaking of dog, he thinks DQ is a great summer treat as well....
Phil and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary by going out for a fancy dinner and spending the night at a hotel. It was so nice to get away and spend some quality time together.
The Hotel knew it was our anniversary, and send up this complementary plate of desserts... yum!
We got a shed... see look, its in the back of the truck... no really, it is!
The shed, in pieces...
The almost completed shed, once again, I have not taken pictures of the completed project!
Oliver still thinks he is a puppy and likes to snuggle in my lap
Emily ran her 2nd half-marathon this summer! We are so proud of her! Phil, Emily and I are all signed up for another half-marathon later in October as well!
Finishers!
