Putting on our Saturday Clothes and doing some doing!

It starts with a thought… and idea… a conversation… a problem…
It then turns into a project on the master house list, often, it seems to make its way to the top of the list…
Then the date is set, the plan erected, and some doing gets done.
Saturday it started with a trip to Home Depot (side note: is it wrong that when I walk into HD I literally get a rush of adrenaline? What you say, I am sick? Why yes, I think I am… never the less… this is true). We then proceed to stand in the isle of our choosing and look up, arms folded, and have an conversation about the perfect tile for our project. After little debate, we pick what we want. This then turns into me taking out my phone to use the calculator so that Phil can give me the number to first figure out how much we will need and then how much it will cost. This then leads into the next conversation of, “is this how we want to spend our money” that is once again quickly answered with a resounding “yes” and we load the cart. After the loading, we get the few other things we need for the project as well as the ongoing HD list and head out.

Once we have made a pit stop at Papa Murphy’s, we are all ready to start our Saturday afternoon project and put on our Saturday clothes (aka, paint covered, hole ridden, project clothes) and get to work. This being our sixth tiling project since buying our house, we are a well oiled machine (ok, Phil is amazing, I am just the side-kick and picture taker).
Our kitchen walls above the counter tops are were in really bad shape. The old cupboards that we took down left divots in the walls and the wall paper we pulled up left the walls wavy and uneven. Despite my attempts to fix them, they remained wavy and uneven. After seeing some friends tiling of their backsplash and a few kitchen stores with similar cupboards and counter tops, we decided what we wanted and did it.

Do you see the lines?

Katie "Phil, Smile!"
Phil, smiles with his back toward me, Katie "Phil! Turn around!"
Phil "You never told me to turn around, you just said to smile!"

So what do you think?
